Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has emphasized that Ghanaian football cannot be deemed a failure despite facing challenges.
Twum highlighted notable achievements such as the successes of the Black Satellites and the Princesses at the recent African Games, where both teams secured gold medals.
He also mentioned Dreams FC's advancement to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup and the Princesses' qualification for the World Cup as significant accomplishments.
However, Twum acknowledged that despite these successes, there are areas of concern, such as the declining performance of the Black Stars and the struggles faced by several junior teams.
Despite these challenges, Twum remains optimistic about the state of Ghanaian football, emphasizing that achievements such as qualifying for the Women's World Cup and securing gold medals in various competitions demonstrate the vitality of the sport in the country.
“Our football cannot be called a dead product when we qualify for the Women's World Cup, win gold medals in both male and female competition, and have Dreams FC in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup,” he told Akoma FM.
