Ibrahim Sannie Daara, a former Communications Director at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has urged technical handlers of the Black Stars to roll out a stern punishment for deadbeat players.
The CAF Media Officer's remarks stems from Ghana's below-par performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, where the Black Stars have bagged only two points and are currently sitting third of Group F after four rounds of games.
Ahead of Ghana's crucial qualifier against Angola on Friday, Daara has come after flopping national team invitees, warning them to give their best or get kicked out of the team.
"Players who fail to deliver should not be rewarded with repeated call-ups... When poor performances become the norm, coaches must hold players accountable," he told GHOne TV.
“But when it becomes something that is normal for the player, the coaches should let the player know that there's a price to pay if you come to the national team and don't perform well.
"I think that we should widen the scope not only to the top leagues of the world, but also give preference to those on the periphery of the top leagues in Europe.
“One example that comes straight to mind is Bernard Tekpetey. For how long will this young lad keep performing well in the Bulgarian league?
“But maybe just because he's playing in Bulgaria, we are not giving him preference," he concluded.
