Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has hinted at potential bid for the presidential seat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Appiah expressed his worried over the continuous sidelined of former footballers in the administration of the country's football governing body.
The former Juventus and Fenerbahçe midfielder disclosed in an interview with Sompa FM on how former Ghanaian footballer are excluded from the activities of the Football Association.
“Sometimes the legends, the former players don’t get the chance. I have observed that football is run by footballers. It is not about the grammar that you will use. I hope that one of us will one day have the chance to come and lead Ghana football”
Appiah, who captained the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments, expressed his willingness to serve and his belief that other former players shared his passion for the game.
“Some of us are very humble…We all want to help” he added.
The 42-year-old's leadership credentials are well established, having led the senior national team of Ghana to several tournaments including two FIFA World Cup tournaments.
Appiah announced his retirement from football in 2012, having played for several clubs including Juventus, Parma, Udinese, Cesena, Bologna, Fenerbahçe and Brescia.
The next election for the Ghana Football Association presidential seat is slated for October this year.
