Black Stars dependable center-back, Mohammed Salisu has urged and called for the support of Ghanaians ahead of their crunchy game against Mali- who he admits will be very tough to beat at their own backyard.

The 25-year-old despite battling injuries in the early stages of the just-finished season managed to bounce back stronger subsequently and once again had himself in coach Otto Addo's 26-man squad.

Salisu due to injuries, made only 13 appearances, 12 in the French Ligue 1 with just an assist for AS Monaco whom he's helped secure UEFA Champions League football next season.

Speaking of the World Cup qualifiers coming up, the former Southampton guardsman described Mali as a strong side but strongly believes a massive support from the Ghanaian football faithful will help them secure a positive outcome in Bamako.

"I think this game is very important for every Ghanaian. It is a World Cup qualifier and we know how important it is for Ghanaians. We have good young players and Ghanaians need to believe the young players and we can do it better," he told reporters at the Black Stars training in Legon.

"We know it's not going to be easy. Mali has a strong team, we have to train day by day and hopefully, we will win this game," he added.

The Black Stars have been camping since last week and have already held series of training sessions to have themselves adequately prepared for the games coming up.

The team is expected to depart the country today en route to Bamako for the game against the Eagles of Mali this Thursday, June 6.

They will host the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic afterwards on June 10, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
