Hohoe United played in their first ever home game in the Ghana Premier League and that finished in a pulsating 1-1 stalemate against Young Apostles FC.
The Hohoe Stadium was filled into capacity with lots of people trooping in numbers to watch the first ever topflight game witnessed in the city.
After what was a very explosive end to end stuff from the two sides, the first department of the game produced no goal and was as a results of being wasteful.
Just two minutes into recess, Abass Ganiu broke the deadlock to become the first ever player to score Hohoe United’s first ever goal in the Premier League.
The former Eleven Wonders striker positioned himself very by arriving just at the right time in the box to connect home from a great Kwadwo Boamah delivery from the right.
Few moments later, Abdul came so close to getting the leveller for Young Apostles with an ambitious hit from outside the box but was parried away by goalkeeper Kwesi Nketiah to a wasted corner kick.
In the 65th minute, Hohoe captain Usman Safianu started a build-up from the left, made a good move into the box to pick the final ball but struck wide from a close range. That was a big miss!
With sixteen minutes to full-time, substitute Richmond Opoku scored a beautiful goal to get the visitors back on level terms after a great team build-up. It finished 1-1 after full-time.
Hohoe United will travel to Vision FC next in Tema and Young Apostles will also host Dreams FC Im Wenchi in match-day 3.
