Bechem United winger, Emmanuel Annor is reportedly interesting Accra Hearts of Oak. The Phobians are seeking a player who can score goals while operating from the wings and midfield also feed their attackers with delightful crosses and Emmanuel Annor looks to be the perfect player for their requirements.
The 20-year-old according to reports in the Ghanaian media is being monitored by Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.
Annor is among the current crop of Ghanaian youngsters — Clinton Duodu, Yaw Amankwah Baafi, Rocky Dwamena, Salifu Abass Samari — who are the best herd of colts of their age group. There are high hopes for the future of Ghana football just like when Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and John Paintsil came through. In hindsight, however, you can only say two of those fully fulfilled his promise on the basis of success.
Capable of playing on either wing or centrally as a No.10, Hearts could make use of a player who is devastatingly good with both feet. This unique ability, referred to ambipedal, makes him unpredictable for the opposition. When dribbling, Annor can comfortably manoeuvre in any direction often leaving defenders on their rear end.
But he isn’t your typical show pony, though. Every Annor move culminates in an incisive pass to pick out the run of a team-mate or a shot on goal. He is also blessed with the ability to play in a more advanced team-mate, or find the run of an overlapping full-back.
A right- or left-wing slot is probably the position that gets the most from him, but he could perform in a number of roles should the tactics require.
His ability to deliver quality dead ball situation can be transferred to open play, and with this in mind, he can ping passes from a midfield position, or swing crosses in from either wing.
Possessing searing pace, sublime dribbling abilities and strength, he’s is a hugely proposition for any defender to handle in a 1v1 situation. Indeed, being so adept in this regard has positive ramifications for his teammates too, for he regularly gets double or triple teamed, which importantly creates space for teammates to utilise.
His movement is another highlight of his, using this to surge in behind with superbly timed runs, find space or be instrumental in creating overloads. His application on the pitch, in training, and his general enjoyment will be influenced by this, and it’s something that will endear him to the fans if his performances are up to scratch.
If Hearts throws Annor in the mix with Hafiz Konkoni and Sampson Eduku, also linked with a move to the club, the Phobians can go from being overly hesitant in the final third to having the option to counter-attack at lightening speed and hit opponents where it hurts.
This is a young player with an ever-growing reputation. Not yet in the league of a Kudus Mohammed or Kamaldeen Sulemana, Annor’s stock is high and he would unquestionably enhance Hearts’ attack next season.
