Former Hearts of Oak defender, Daniel Quaye, believes that the departure of experienced players Sulley Muntari and Gladson Awako was due to the club's culture of silence.

In his view, the system at Hearts of Oak does not encourage senior players to guide and correct the younger ones or to openly address issues within the team.

Both Sulley Muntari and Gladson Awako joined Hearts of Oak during Coach Samuel Boadu's tenure in the 2021/2022 season, a time when the club was celebrating its local treble victory after a 10-year trophy drought.

Quaye, who has also parted ways with the club, suggests that the environment at Hearts of Oak doesn't allow vocal senior players to express themselves.

"They do things anyhow in the club, and when the experienced players talk, they force them out. We all know why Awako was sacked from the club. He was sacked because if things are not going well, and he speaks, then there is a problem," Quaye explained during an interview with Rainbow Radio.

"There is no proper leadership in the club. The same thing happened to Sulley Muntari because they will not accept any contributions he brought on board considering his experience in the game,”

He further expressed his concerns about a lack of proper leadership within the club and criticized the board for not involving former Hearts of Oak players who have experience in football management.

"We have former players who are knowledgeable in football administration, but this board will not involve them in the running of the club, even though Hearts of Oak belongs to everyone," Quaye stated.
