In a highly competitive fixture during the ninth week of the Ghana Premier League, two prominent teams, Asante Kotoko and CAF Confederations Cup participants Dreams FC, faced off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Both squads entered the match on the heels of losses in their recent Ghana Premier League outings. Kotoko suffered a narrow defeat against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koramansah Park, while Dreams FC faced a 2-0 home defeat against Berekum Chelsea.
In today's game, the "Still Believe" squad made the journey to Kumasi, aiming to defeat the Porcupine Warriors and return to their winning ways. Prior to this match, Dreams FC had experienced two consecutive losses in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Dreams FC managed to break the deadlock just before halftime through a goal from Abdul Aziz Issah. The second half saw no additional goals, allowing the CAF Confederations Cup contenders to secure the full three points.
Kotoko's coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, introduced his attacking options in the second half as they sought an equalizer. However, Dreams FC displayed determination and resilience, securing their first win in their last three games. Meanwhile, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions have not won a game since October 13.
Kotoko has now fallen to the 14th position with 10 points, while Dreams FC has climbed to the 10th spot with 11 points after nine matches in the season.
In the next game of the domestic top-flight, the Porcupine Warriors will be away to Samartex in week 10.
