Samuel Sarfo Duku Esq., Asante Kotoko's Spokesperson, has reiterated that the club's ambition to achieve the double is still on course and will give the new coach coming in the same task to fulfill

The 24-time Ghanaian conquerors officially ended their relationship with head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum yesterday due to a recent string of poor performance which has now thrown Kotoko's league winning chance in a strong doubt.

Having led the log with three points just few weeks ago, the Reds currently have dropped to the fourth spot in the table with 47 points, six behind league leaders Bibiani Goldstars

In the FA Cup, the 'Kum Apem' lads are currently in the semi final where they will face Berekum Chelsea later this month and will definitely throw in their arsenals to get into the final and possibly win the competition for the first time since 2017

In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Sarfo Duku stated categorically clear that they still have the chance to win the double and the change of coach won't affect them in any way.

"We will continue to do our utmost to win the double, as promised. As I speak to you now, we are still on pace, even though it has become a bit difficult, especially with the league title, considering the fact that, we had been in the lead for weeks, even though it was not a comfortable one, but for us to lose the first spot today with a 6 point margin.

"It appears to be a challenging task, but given the points at stake, we may be able to reclaim the virtually lost crown. So we will continue to put in our best, and whoever takes charge (as the new coach) will continue with the mission, because this is Kotoko, and Kotoko goes into every competition as the favorite, that is what the club is known for, so the goal of winning the double is still on the table for whoever takes charge."

Former Asante Kotoko star and coach Abdul Karim Zito has widely been reported to take up the job and will be announced very soon. He was part of the club's last CAF Champions League winning squad in 1983
