Karela United coach Nurudeen Amadu has criticized the conduct of Young Apostles’ supporters following his side’s 2-1 defeat at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday, describing their behavior as “barbaric.”

The result ended Young Apostles’ five-match winless streak in the Ghana Premier League, lifting them level on 20 points with Karela United after their fourth home victory of the season.

Amadu praised the performance of both sides but expressed frustration over incidents that accompanied the second goal.

“I think in the first half they played very well. In the second half, we also came out strongly. But when the incident led to the second goal, it’s questionable, and that is very unfortunate,” he said.
“But that’s football. It wasn’t a bad game for either side. They needed the win badly. However, you have to warn your supporters. Some of the things they do here are unacceptable. We have to move away from this barbaric way of doing things and adopt a modern approach.”

On the field, Abdul Ganiyu opened the scoring for Young Apostles in the 20th minute with a powerful strike, before Felix Morty equalized for Karela United in the 36th minute amid a scramble in the penalty area. The decisive goal came early in the second half when Issah Nyaabila restored the hosts’ lead four minutes after the restart, sealing the hard-fought victory.

The win provides Young Apostles with much-needed momentum, while Karela United must now regroup as they continue their campaign in the competitive league.
