Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has confirmed that he is joining English Premier League returnee Leicester City on permanent basis for the next season's campaign.
Fatawu Issahaku initially joined the Foxes on a season-long loan deal from Portuguese side Sporting CP during the last summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old played an instrumental role in Leicester City's promotion to the Premier League after scoring six goals and provided 13 assists in the last season's English Championship.
He confirmed his permanent transfer move to Leicester City at the Ghana Football Award on Saturday evening.
“I will be playing for Leicester City next season,” Fatawu Issahaku said in an interview monitored by Kickgh.com
Leicester City have activated the buyout clause in the Ghana international's loan move for a transfer fee of €17 million despite a transfer embargo due to profit and sustainability rule violations in the 2022/23 season, Leicester is committed to retaining the promising winger.
Ghanaian second-tier side Steadfast FC will receive 50% of the transfer value once Leicester pays the €17 million fee.
Since Sporting CP acquired Issahaku in 2022 for €1.2 million, the gain of €15.8 million will be split, with Steadfast and Sporting CP each receiving €7.9 million.
