The 20-year-old enforcer of Ghanaian descent has completed his transfer switch to the newly-promoted second tier side from the German top-tier side in this transfer window
Newly-promoted 2. Bundesliga club Dynamo Dresden have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian defensive midfielder Kofi Amoako from VfL Wolfsburg.
The former Hanover 96 youth star is teaming up with the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion outfit on a permanent basis after spending the 2024-25 campaign on loan at VfL Osnabrück.
''SG Dynamo Dresden continues to push ahead with squad planning for the upcoming second division season and signed Kofi Amoako on Thursday, June 26. The 20-year-old was loaned to VfL Osnabrück from VfL Wolfsburg last season and is now moving to Elbflorenz on a permanent basis. Both clubs have agreed to keep the details of the transfer confidential,'' an official statement over the signing of Amoako read.
The Ghana-prospect enforcer has said of his transfer move to his new employers via the club's official website: ''I'm very happy that my move to Dresden worked out. Last season, I was able to play against Dynamo twice, and the impressive atmosphere at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium is particularly memorable. I'm really looking forward to playing in front of these fantastic fans in the future, continuing to develop personally here, and contributing my part to a successful second-division season."
Sporting director Thomas Brendel added: ''We are delighted that we have been able to close another gap in our squad planning with the signing of Kofi Amoako. Kofi is a very talented player who demonstrated his great potential last season and, in our opinion, has a good outlook that we want to continue to develop. He brings outstanding athletic attributes and can therefore play an important role at the heart of our game.''
He featured in 36 games for VfL Osnabrück across all competitions in the recently concluded football season.
Given his Ghanaian parentage, the Hanover-born youngster remains fit to play for Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the Germany national youth teams.
