Former Ghana Football Association vice-president George Afriyie says Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has grown as a manager and will not repeat past mistakes at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will make their fifth World Cup appearance at the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
Although Addo led Ghana to qualification, he faced criticism from some fans who questioned his experience. Afriyie, however, believes the 50-year-old coach is now better prepared for the demands of the world stage.

“Otto Addo is now a mature coach, and I don’t think he will make mistakes at the World Cup,” Afriyie told Asempa FM.
“He has learned from past experiences and understands what is required at that level.”
Ghana will begin their mundial campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before taking on England in Boston. They will complete the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
After exiting at the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Addo will be aiming for a stronger showing in 2026, with Afriyie confident that added experience and maturity could make the difference.
