Here are four things we learned from the clash.
Listless Ghana eliminated
The first half of this content was pretty even, but there is no doubt that Niger deserved their victory by the end of the 90 minutes.
The Black Galaxies could not get David Abagna Sandan into the game and, given that this is a team entirely built around the RTU star, they lacked alternative ideas.
At the other end of the field, meanwhile, Ghana continually struggled to play out from the back, and Konadu Yiadom gifted Seyni the opening goal with a terrible attempted clearance.
There was still plenty of time for them to get back into the match at 1-0 down, but instead they capitulated – and conceded another goal after the interval.
It is only a matter of time until Walker exit the dugout
Not only were the tactics wrong, but as has been the case since in their recent games at the tournament. Walker looked bereft of any inspiration.
The players, as talented as they are, aren’t responding to his ideas, and it must have been a tough watch for many Ghana fans to watch their team play so bad.
Speculation that there will be a managerial change will only increase, and it is becoming harder by the day to make a case for Walker.
Would it be too late? Well, the future would suggest not. A new manager would, at the very least, spark something that could get the team back to winning ways.
Niger Ready For Algeria Test
A win against one of the tournament's favourites is exactly what you need as you prepare to head to semi finals to face one of the toughest tests in the tournament.
Niger restricted Ghana to few clear-cut chances on Saturday night and they will need a similar performance against the hosts. Playing against a host nation is always a daunting task but this was the ideal prep for facing one of the best teams in the tournament.
Kofi Kordzi and Sylvester Simba were in the pocket of the Nigerien centre-backs for much of the match, and that is the ideal confidence boost ahead of a meeting with Algeria's attackers.
Niger stamped their authority over Ghana in the 2nd half and although it only ended 2-0, it could and should have been a wider margin of victory.
Niger are certainly one of the best teams in West Africa, but can they now beat one of the best teams on the continent?
Leggy Kofi Kordzi Fails To Make An Impression
It wasn’t all good news for the Black Galaxies last night with Kofi Kordzi failing to make a meaningful impact once again.
Up against a hard-working Nigerien defence, the Legon Cities man failed to find any space but perhaps more worryingly, he failed to make any impact in the area.
Famed for his ability to pop-up with a crucial goal, those late runs into the penalty box which has become his trademark have all but dried up recently, and that is a major concern for Annor Walker. The striker putting in a shift, but does he need a rest?
