In his first public statement since assuming the role of Technical Director at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah has outlined his football ideology, emphasizing a possession-based playing style across all national teams.
Taking over from former Technical Director Bernhard Liepert, Professor Mintah aims to instill a cohesive footballing identity that reflects Ghanaian flair and efficiency.
During an interview with the GFA's official YouTube channel, Professor Mintah articulated his vision, emphasizing the importance of possession as the cornerstone of his philosophy.
"The legacy I would like to leave is to have Ghanaian teams playing like Ghanaians," he stated. "By that, I mean we prioritize possession both in attack and defense, transitioning based on the principles of play at different moments of the game."
Professor Mintah's vision centers on playing attractive, effective football, where possession serves as a platform for both offensive creativity and defensive solidity. He aspires for Ghanaian teams to excel in executing strategic plays while maintaining a distinct Ghanaian footballing identity.
"I envision Ghana playing good football, characterized by fluent attacking moves and organized defensive structures, all while achieving positive results," he added. "By the time I conclude my tenure as Technical Director, I aim to see Ghana positioned as a leading exponent of possession-based football on the continent."
As Professor Mintah assumes his new role, his commitment to shaping Ghanaian football in line with his possession-oriented philosophy signals a new era for the national teams under his stewardship.
