The talented centre-back has agreed terms with the Bundesliga campaigners for his possible signing in the ongoing summer transfer window.
German top-tier side Bayer Leverkusen are in pole position of announcing the acquisition of English-born Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah on a long-term contract.
Quansah, who signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool in October 2024, is leaving the Merseyside club to Germany for a transfer fee of £35 million.
His move to Leverkusen would establish him as first-choice centre-back under new head coach Erik ten Hag, with the Bundesliga runners-up making him their no.1 target to replace Jonathan Tah, who left the club to join rival Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Quansah made his Liverpool debut at the start of 2023/24 season under Jurgen Klopp.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Quansah spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Bristol Rovers before making his debut for Liverpool in August 2023. He went to enjoy a breakout campaign, replacing Ibrahima Konate as regular in the heart of defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.
He made 25 appearances in all competitions last season but saw his game time drastically reduced, only starting five matches in the Premier League as Liverpool won the title in head coach Arne Slot’s first season at the club.
Quansah has played 55 games for Liverpool in total, scoring three times and providing three assists.
He has been capped 11 times by England at under-21 level but is yet to feature for the senior team, though he was called up to Thomas Tuchel’s first squad for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
Quansah remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international stage despite playing for the England U19 and U21 teams.
Marc Guehi emerges as Quansah replacement at Liverpool
Liverpool have also targeted Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as the replacement for the outgoing young centre-back ahead of the 2025-26 season's campaign.
Guehi is one contender Liverpool could sign to replace him and the England star is heading into his last year under contract at Selhurst Park.

Last season, the Eagles were after as much as £65 million to sell their captain as Newcastle had a number of bids turned down.
Liverpool announced the signing of Florian Writz today after passing a medical examination for a club-record £100m which could rise to £116m.
They have already signed his good mate Jeremie Frimpong — the pair were on holiday together this week — for £29.5m and they are close to signing Hungary and Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez for around £40m.
