Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has launched fresh attacks on players who recently switch international allegiance to play for Ghana before the World Cup following an early elimination from the tournament.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the nationality switch of five players namely Iñaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Stephan Kofi Ambrosius, Patrick Pfeifer, Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer and Mohammed Salisu who had ignored Black Stars call-up since 2021.
Trio Lamptey, Williams, and Salisu made the final squad for the tournament, however, they crashed out of the World Cup in Qatar after losing 2-0 to Uruguay in the final group game.
Frimpong, who once capped for the Black Stars, said players should show readiness when they receive Ghana call-up but not to only accept to play for the West African nation because of tournaments.
"This should be a lesson to some of our players. They shouldn't wait for big matches before they show up in the Black Stars." Frimpong told GTV Sports Plus
"They need to be ready and available anytime they are called up,'"
Ghana finished bottom of Group H with three points after losing to Portugal and Uruguay and recording a win over South Korea.
