The Ghana Football Association(GFA) have announced that they have officially secured the legal ownership of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence land in Prampram.
The GFA have been able to agree with the legal custodians, Numo Awuley Kwao Family of Miotso to buy the 65.20acres of land after years of negotiations.
Former Sports Minister, E.T Mensah secured the land for sports development in 1998, but the GFA couldn't officially own it over the years due to various issues.
The GFA alluded that, it was necessary to acquire the land because "unlike the FIFA Goal Project, no approval would be granted by FIFA for infrastructure projects to be undertaken on land that were not legally owned by the Football Association."
The GFA's development centre's land wasn't legally owned by the Association despite making huge infrastructure projects on it for more than two decades.
The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence is used by the GFA to house the junior national teams, congresses and serminars of the Football Association.
"The Football Association is happy to announce that it has signed the necessary documentations with the Numo Awuley Kwao Family of Miotso which secures a land size of 65.20 Acres (26.39 Hectares) of the Technical Centre lands".
"This is a major accomplishment of the Football Association since over the years people have been encroaching on the land to the extent that 34.80acres of the original parcel of 100acres land had been lost. The Association is very happy to have completed the successful negotiations with the owners with an agreed payment plan," General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo said.
